Description
Made during one of my village trips for inspiration, “Standing Woman” is the depiction of contentment, innocence, and ignorance. Where are we running all our lives? Why are we always in a haste to achieve something?
This particular painting of mine hit those questions on point and I knew I had to portray it for everyone. During my early days of life, I was often strolling the streets of the village seeking to find stories to paint. “Standing Woman” came into creation on such one of the days and it portrays the rural Newari women attending to do their day-to-day chores.
Search for stories, pause your time, and only once do focus on the villagers and the women there. What you will see amidst the hard gathering and working life is the wide smile, giggles, and burst of laughter.
While people donned with materialistic values and paper notes are always striving for their self-profound life, the women there are already on that particular stage. It is their lack of desires and simplicity in life that makes them sparkle even with their hard life. But as we say this, “Is ignorance bliss?”
My painting “Standing Woman” depicts a single woman at sight, draped in her everyday clothes and the eyes filled with innocence and contentment. Giving it realistic values, the work is done with palette choices of blues, murky purples, muddied reds, and browns. With a slight hint of a smile, it depicts the sign of contentment with life.
Often the people residing in the rural areas of Nepal are hinted towards the smallest factors in life resulting in their happiness circle being limited to everyday basics. They seek no extravagance and get immense pleasure from the fulfillment of their everyday basic needs.
Therewith, when you expect less from your everyday chores, every tiny detail results makes a huge impact on you overall. Likewise, when you are not exposed to massive, wet dreams, your happiness underlies in the smallest factors.
