His Top Notch Collection

The Noble Path

One of his precious collections that Bhairaj looks upon is the “Noble Path,” which is inspired by the monks that work hard to search for nirvana. This art collection came into his practice during the 2046 BS political activity and tension.

Most of his paintings on that duration were dark-themed that portrayed the real surrounding conflicts. As he opened up that during those days, he painted, keeping in mind the news that often played on the radio.

Indeed, during those crucial times, Bhairaj had to walk on eggshells of what he portrayed in his work.

Re-curring Portraits of Women

Bhairaj is well-versed when it comes to women’s portrayal. Often during his early age, he depicted old Newari women huddled in groups, young Newari women with heavy braids beating rice, carrying firewood, and many more. Likewise, he ensured to work with color palettes that included blues, murky purples, muddied reds, and browns that lent a somewhat harsh ethos to his paintings.

However, after his marriage to his beloved wife, Sabina, his artworks took a major turn. The very similar women’s paintings are now revived as young and sensuous. The women in his paintings were now caught in their private and secret moments: sleeping, resting, bathing, oiling their hair. Indeed, he had discovered the newfound freedom of expression in his works.
